SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — April is World Wish Month, and Oh My Cupcakes in Sioux Falls is celebrating with their new flavor.
The sugar rush wasn’t the only thing kids were feeling Monday morning as they tried the new Magical Wish Maker Cupcake. The rush of joy was just as strong.
“It was, it was cool to see other kids like me that that have critical illnesses and that get to go on a wish like I did,” Jaxon Hotchkin said.
All seven Make-a-Wish kids have received their wishes. While eating cupcakes for breakfast is a pretty sweet deal, it’s the act of paying it forward that’s the icing on the cake.
“They’ve been through so much and now they’re here. They’re enjoying life. They’ve had their wishes, and they want to pay it forward and make wishes come true for other kids. And so they came out today to be the official taste testers of the new Wish Maker Cupcake,” South Dakota and Montana Make-a-Wish CEO Sue Salter said.
And that first taste was not a disappointment.
“If I had three thumbs, I would give it three thumbs, but I don’t have three thumbs so I can’t give it three thumbs. So, two thumbs,” Alexa Rothenberger said.
For the entire month of April, a portion of the proceeds for the Wish Maker Cupcake will support the South Dakota and Montana Make-a-Wish chapter.
“There’s other people who have to fight through tough times. It’s going to help them make their wish come true,” Thomas Lambert said.
